Throw Away Your Television - Red Hot Chili Peppers

The title really says it all. The Red Hot Chili Peppers really couldn't make their point anymore clear. To sum it up, they believe television is a waste of time, so everyone should just "throw away" their televisions. "Take the noose off your ambition"

This line exemplifies the band's perspective that television destroys ambition and makes people lazy. "Reinvent your intuition now" is reinforcement of the line prior, but also refers to the degree of damage that television has on the mind; forcing one to "reinvent" their intuition, something everyone is supposed to have. It is also clear that the Red Hot Chili Peppers believe that television is evil. This is evident when they refer to TV as a "plague" when they call to "slay the plague for it's contagious." "It's a repeat" is not suprisingly the most repetitive line in the song. By repeating "it's a repeat" over and over again, they get the point across that television is just "a repat of a story told" and "it's getting old."
